My Critique Experience:
I have a background in communication and an interest in storytelling that carries beyond the page. I’ve beta read for authors in fantasy, YA, and sci fi, and provide critique through online writing forums like Reddit. I stay actively engaged in the writing community by following what’s selling and why, analyzing genre expectations, and writing about my thoughts on emerging publishing trends. I approach every manuscript with a development eye and the mindset of your target audience.
What I Don’t Do:
While I hope to offer developmental editing down the line, please note that beta reading does not replace the need for an editor. I do not provide line editing or proofreading. My focus is on story-level feedback, such as structure, pacing, character, tone, and emotional resonance.
Beta Reading
I provide honest, reader-focused feedback designed to help you strengthen your manuscript. Each project is read critically and carefully, with notes on what’s working, what’s unclear, and where another pass may elevate the story.
You’ll receive insight on both macro and micro levels, from big-picture narrative flow and character arcs to more specific elements like pacing, tone, and emotional payoff. Feedback is always tailored to your goals and I’m happy to chat to get a better understanding of what you’re looking for.
Because I offer in-depth beta reads, I take on a limited number of projects to ensure each manuscript gets the attention it deserves. Every submission is reviewed before acceptance. If your story is a good fit, I’ll reach out to offer free first chapter feedback and a proposed timeline.
All manuscripts are read personally by me, and all feedback is written, never AI generated.
Curious about working together?

Reviews
Thank you for your interest in having your book reviewed!
I'm always open to discovering new books and hope that, by offering this free service, I can support emerging authors and help bring visibility to new or under-discovered books. That said, I’m selective about what I accept and prioritize books I’m genuinely excited to read and share with my audience.
Please note that submission does not guarantee acceptance and that I always disclose when I’ve received a free copy in exchange for an honest review, in accordance with FTC guidelines.

I am most interested in books that fit within the following genres:
-fantasy (epic, high, YA, and adult)
-science fiction
-historical fiction
-thriller / mystery
I may also consider other genres on a case-by-case basis, so feel free to pitch your book even if you’re not sure it’s a perfect match.

Please email the following to [contact@karcireads.com] with the subject line: Review Request – [Book Title]
Book title, author name, and genre
A short synopsis
A link to your website (if available)
Any relevant deadlines or publication dates
You may include a PDF copy of your book, but this is not necessary until after I have agree to move forward

Once I receive your submission, I’ll review the details and decide if your work feels like a good fit. If I’m interested, I’ll follow up to request a copy of the book and provide and estimated timeline for completion. If I choose not to move forward, I will let you know.
My reviews are written independently for readers and reflect my honest impressions. I aim to be fair, constructive, and respectful in all reviews. If I find that I don’t feel comfortable recommending a book or sharing a public review, I may opt not to post one. This is not a reflection of you as an author, just a matter of fit, taste, or time
Reviews are posted on my site, Amazon, Goodreads, and (occasionally) Substack.
